Portfolio Building

Over the past two months or so I have been working on building my portfolio; to build my portfolio I have used both coursework from college and personal work of my own.

The first six pages of my portfolio were pieces taken from a project I produced focused on 'A World of Colour'. My final outcome for this project was a digitally rendered educational book about colour.

This next page of my portfolio shows two images of samples from the project I am currently working on: 'The City Project'. For this project I have to produce a range of handmade 3D typography.

The first sample was shadow typography, which was produced
by partially cutting the letters out from white card
and then shining a light on the card from above.
The second sample was produced by folding each page of a
book to eventually take the shape of a letter.

The next two pages of my portfolio shows three stages of a personal illustration I produced last summer. The idea for this illustration came from researching about the Tree of Life. I made the decision of placing this piece in my portfolio due to the precision of each line and how well the final outcome was.

The first image shows the first step, which was the basic
outline using fine liner. The second image showing the next step,
which was painting the inside using acrylic paint.

The next four pages of my portfolio were etching and lino prints from when I was experimenting with printmaking in the first year of my college course.

The next two pages of my portfolio show my development from design sheets to a final outcome for a textiles project from my first year of college. 

Two developmental design sheets, inspiration for these design was
taken from primary research for a natural frameworks project.

The final outcome that was produced from the design sheets,
using silk screen printing, bond-a-web, and hand stitch.

The next two pages are two personal pieces of hand rendered typography. The reason I produced these pieces was to remind me of what I love and to give me a break from the digital side of graphic design.

The last three pages of my portfolio a few studies taken from life classes over the past two years at college. In life class I have experimented with a range of media, influenced by various artists. Although these studies are unfinished, I placed them in my portfolio to show my skill with time and precision.
